Gunslinger

Summary

Category: Magic Users, Combatants
Region(s): Primarily Ilmaria, with presence in Adestein and frontier territories
Type: Firearm-bound Mage

The Gunslinger is a unique type of mage in Fera who channels magical energy through firearms, blending martial skill with arcane force. Gunslingers form a specialized class capable of manipulating gunpowder, velocity, and ballistic trajectory using magically imbued bullets and custom-forged weapons. Unlike traditional mages, they require no incantations; only a gunpowder, and the will to act.

Most Gunslingers are born with a latent ability to interact with magic through kinetic force. Their power manifests through enchanted ammunition or specialized modifications to their weapons, allowing feats such as ricochet shots that seek targets, flame-wreathed bullets, or suppressive blasts that distort sound and air.

The origin of Gunslingers is disputed. Some link their rise to the outlawed mage-warriors of the frontier, others to lost experimental cabals. For centuries, Gunslingers were banned in the known world. In the Ilmarian Imperium (Nation). That changed when the current monarch, a Gunslinger himself, legalized their order and formed the Cabal of Gunslingers to rival the kingdom’s existing arcane institutions.

Gunslingers are often solitary by nature, guided by personal codes or regional traditions. Many adopt titles, oaths, or creeds that reflect their philosophy toward violence, justice, or freedom. Their presence is both feared and respected, especially in lawless regions where their appearance may mean sudden judgment, or salvation.
