Nerisai Tülverin

Summary

Nerisai Tülverin is an Aşağı girl from the old noble line of House Tülverin, a family renowned for their immaculate manners and their deeply problematic opinions. Known for her porcelain-doll innocence and fluttery demeanour, she presents herself as a gentle scholar of natural philosophy and Üstün theology.

However, beneath her soft smile lies an unfiltered torrent of prejudice, spoken with such sweetness that listeners often need a moment to realise they have just been insulted. Nerisai does not believe she is racist; she believes she is simply stating the natural order of the world as any civilised Aşağı ought to know it.

She is both unintentionally hilarious and genuinely insufferable, making her one of the most memorable young nobles wandering Ilmaria in its middle ages.

Appearance

Nerisai resembles a perfect illustration from a children’s fae-tale book:

  • long, pale-blonde hair tied in loose ribbons,
  • large, doe-like emerald eyes,
  • pale porcelain skin,
  • soft features that never seem capable of malice.

Her clothing is typically Aşağı noble fashion of the era: flowing layered gowns, light fabrics in pale greens, creams, and golds, embroidered with leaf motifs. She carries herself as if perpetually on the verge of attending a choir recital.

Her appearance gives no indication whatsoever that she is capable of saying, with genuine delight, phrases such as “How quaint of them, attempting agriculture with those little hands.”

Personality

Nerisai is the perfect storm of sweetness, grace, noble etiquette, and unexamined bigotry. She speaks softly, smiles constantly, and never raises her voice, even when delivering the most outrageous, long-winded commentary on “lesser peoples.”

She does not view herself as malicious; her racism is simply the “truth” she was raised with. When challenged, she appears genuinely confused, as if someone has questioned the colour of the sky.

Traits include:

  • Oblivious superiority delivered with kindness.
  • Flowery speech masking barbed insults.
  • Academic curiosity, especially in botany and magical fauna.
  • Innate cowardice, hidden behind aristocratic composure.
  • Terrible at recognising danger, especially when she offends dangerous creatures

To her credit, she is capable of empathy; she just has to be tricked into believing someone is “almost Aşağı”.

People of Interest

  • House Tülverin Elders: The source of her worldview; ancient, aloof Aşağı nobles who believe the world was nicer before everyone else was allowed in it.
  • Shadow - Her New Master.

Locations of Interest

  • Tülverin Estate; an elegant, secluded Aşağı manor filled with libraries, greenhouses, and judgemental relatives.

History

Born to the prestigious House Tülverin, Nerisai was raised in a bubble of courtly privilege and Aşağı-centric doctrine. Tutors praised her intelligence but never corrected her inherited biases; instead, they dressed them up as academic facts.

In her adolescence, she developed an interest in the outside world; particularly “creatures” (by which she means everyone who isn’t an Aşağı). This curiosity brought her into regular contact with non-Aşağı travellers, who have been subjected ever since to her gently spoken but devastatingly arrogant worldview.

Despite this, some find her weirdly endearing. She tries to help. She is earnest. She means well. And she makes no distinction between friend or foe: she insults everyone with equal grace.

The New Master

After dungeon delving into some ruins, Nerisai ran into Shadow, a powerful assassin and mage. A Lord in his own right. Demonic and powerful. He did what no one had done before to the girl and made her responsible for her actions. Through sexual abuse and demeaning acts, Shadow made her submit to his will. Branding her with his mark and putting his 'mark' in her mind through lust powered sexual magic.

She was used in his dungeon and even spawned out an Imp child in his breeding rooms. Named Emp by Shadow, the Imp would follow her from now on. A stain on her honour.

Once suitably humbled and dominated, Shadow sent her out in the world as his servant. A puppet, a pet.

A New Life's Goal.

Nerisai wanted to rid herself of her new Master's control, so would get to work, in secret, to collect powers and knowledge that she could use to free herself from Shadow's clutches. She would use magic to seal her mind in two, or more, as her Master had a leash into her mind, she would create hosts that she could use and control in a way that he would not be able to track, using her split mind to hide her actions from him.

The New Kräl Şah - Gölşah

When she was ready, Nerisai declared her intentions. She announced herself as Gölşah, the Black Sovereign. One particular personality in her mind, the one who had taken all the power, was now ready to rule.
